Job Description:
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for the position of chairperson of the department. The department currently consists of nine tenured or tenure-track professors, three full-time senior lecturers and a number of adjuncts. It offers baccalaureate degrees in mathematics, as well as a minor in mathematics. It also supports the mathematics component of the general education program of the university. Requirements:
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics and an outstanding record of achievement in research that would lead to an appointment at the full professor level with tenure, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees of the University. In addition, candidates should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and superior leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. The desired starting date is September 1, 2010, although later dates will be considered.
